Current Board Members
Dave Biber
Dave Biber is a founding member of PTAG and a long-time mountainbiker and trail design enthusiast. He is Illustrator and Graphic Designer at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2011, he received a Jefferson Award in recognition of his contributions to PTAG spanning over a decade.
Peter Greninger, President
Peter Greninger is an outdoor enthusiast working as the Outreach Specialist for REI in SW Pennsylvania and a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander, WY (SSR1). Peter has served as an Urban Eco-Steward with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, a Trip Leader Council Member with Venture Outdoors, a Tireless Project Steering Committee member as well as a member of the Pittsburgh Outdoor Recreation Group, creators of the Walls Are Bad Outdoor Recreation media campaign. Peter joined the PTAG Board in 2006 and has been working to develop strategic partnerships with other organizations as well as city county and state officials to increase PTAG’s impact on the region.
Dr. Jamie Pfaeffle, Treasurer
Jamie Pfaeffle is an orthopaedic hand surgeon and a mountain biker. Jamie became involved with downhill biking early on and in more recent years freeriding. Through volunteer work with PTAG, Jamie has helped to bring a local freeride trail, the North Park Freeride Area, to Pittsburgh. Jamie joined the PTAG board in 2010.
Maurice Tierney
Maurice Tierney is the Publisher of the Pittsburgh-based Dirt Rag, the nation’s pre-eminent mountain biking publication since 1989, and more recently Bicycle Times Magazine. Maurice has been a board member since the PTAG Board was created.
Aaron Basmajam
Aaron is a resident in the Regent Square area and has recently moved from Richmond, Virginia where he played an active roll in trail volunteering and development through participation with the local mountain bike club, Richmond-MORE. Aaron started mountain biking in the early 2000s and has enjoyed cross country racing and riding in the western VA, WV and PA trail systems. He is excited about the opportunity to continue to support trail development and maintenance and looks forward to growing the board's membership and involvement through community outreach.
Jim Kapp
Jim Kapp is an avid Mountain and Road bicyclist. His love for the sport goes back to his 3 speed Huffy with banana seat and chopper handlebars. Jim is the co-steward of Boyce park and has been involved with the mapping and trail tree painting of this park and bridge building. One of his main focus with the PTAG board will be in the capacity of grant writing and fundraising.
William Kirk
William was born and raised in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh and currently works in retail logistics project management. As an avid trail builder and multi disciplined rider, he has designed and constructed trails in the Pittsburgh area for over 13 years. William, alongside PTAG board member Jamie Pfaeffle and builder Dave Brunger, was one of the riders, who first joined PTAG to bring Freeride Mountain Biking to Pittsburgh. He is also credited with 7 Springs Bike Park construction and other technical riding areas within the region. As a board member William is excited to raise awareness of PTAG and develop progressive terrain within the region.
Jake Milofsky, Secretary
Jake Milofsky is a Squirrel Hill native who has been riding bikes in Schenley and Frick Parks since he was a kid. From 2006 to 2009 Jake was on the field staff of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Here he gained an appreciation for trail design, construction, culture, and politics while working to create sustainable park singletrack in partnership with PTAG, SCA, the City of Pittsburgh, and other groups. Jake is currently the Stewardship Coordinator at Tree Pittsburgh, where he works with citizens to care for newly planted trees in their communities. He is happy to be working on trails with PTAG once again as Secretary of the Board.
Sara Thompson
Sara Thompson is a Landscape Architect with Pashek Associates, a community planning and design firm locatedin Pittsburgh's North Side. Through work, Sara has become experienced in designing sustainable trails throughout Pennsylvania. Recently, Sara has volunteered with PTAG to design and build new trails in Highland Park. This is Sara's first year on the PTAG board.
Ed Watt
Ed Watt was raised in the North Hills area. Since returning from a tour with the U.S. Marines in the Middle East he now resides in the Westview area. Ed enjoys competing in triathlons, adventure races, trials comps, and anything else that has to do with a bike.
He has spent numerous days helping with the development of the Freeride Trail and Skills park located at Allegheny County's North Park and wants to spread this style of building to all parks. Ed also divides his time between various parks maintaining the multi purpose trails.
David White
David White is passionate about environmental, transportation, and energy issues. He is a year round bicycle commuter and, in an effort to help support his love of cycling, has been preforming trail maintenance since he was a teenager. He works for Pittsburgh's Department of City Planning. He lives with his wife and children in the neighborhood of Morningside.
Lora Woodward
Lora Woodward is an avid hiker, bicycler and canoeist. As the Public Program Director for Venture Outdoors, she oversees 500+ outings a year led by a dedicated volunteer trip leader corps. Lora has lead trail-building crews for the Student Conservation Association in Crater Lake National Park, Great Smokey Mountain National Park, Ouachita National Forest, and regionally. She is trained in Wilderness First Response and teaches Venture Outdoors' Outdoor Leadership Training. Lora has a keen interest in wilderness awareness and survival, and has been through courses at the Tom Brown Tracker School and the Vermont Wilderness School. Lora joined the PTAG Board in 2012.
Michelle Wojnar
Michelle Wojnar is a resident of Aspinwall area and moved to the Pittsburgh in 2004 after living in multiple cities thru the East Coast. Her passion is trail running along with biking and whitewater kayaking. Through work and volunteering, Michelle has experienced teaching whitewater kayaking, wilderness survival, trail building and grant writing. Michelle joined PTAG Board in 2012 and looks forward to trail building, promoting PTAG thru trail runs, rides, Bikefest, etc.
